Jabreen Castle, located near Bahla in Oman’s Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, is a 17th-century architectural masterpiece built by Imam Bil’arab bin Sultan Al Ya’arubi in 1675. Originally serving as a residential palace, it also functioned as a center for learning in fields like astronomy, medicine, and Islamic law. The castle is renowned for its intricate wooden ceilings adorned with Arabic calligraphy and floral motifs, particularly in the “Sun and Moon Hall,” which features 14 strategically placed windows for optimal lighting. Restored in the 1980s, Jabreen Castle stands as a testament to Omani craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
