Hili Falaj is a traditional irrigation system located in Samail, a historic town in Oman’s Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. Part of the ancient Omani falaj network, it channels water from underground sources to farms using gravity-fed tunnels and canals. The falaj supports local agriculture and reflects the ingenuity of Omanis in managing water in arid conditions. Samail is known for its variety of aflaj types, including Ayni, Dawoodi, and Ghaili. Hili Falaj remains an important cultural landmark and a symbol of sustainability. Some Omani aflaj are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, highlighting their historical and environmental significance.
